IT support and setup for practices, shops and small offices north-west of Lyon

A computer that will not start on a Monday morning, a printer the network no longer sees, a mailbox to set up again after changing provider. I look after the computers, printers and network of practices, shops and small offices that have nobody in house for it, and I come to you.

On-site visits cover the north-west of Lyon: Dardilly, La Tour-de-Salvagny, Charbonnières-les-Bains, Lentilly, Dommartin, L'Arbresle and Sain-Bel. Every job is quoted after a first conversation and billed per intervention. A regular follow-up can be set up on quote, depending on the size of the fleet.

Who this is for

This service is aimed at practices, shops and small offices where IT is nobody's job. When the machine at reception refuses to start, the whole day shifts, and that is not the moment anyone gets to shop around calmly for a supplier.

The requests look much the same from one client to the next: a computer to replace and put back on the network, a printer to share between several desks, wifi that does not reach the back of the premises, a mailbox to reconfigure, a backup to set up because nobody is quite sure where the files live.

What I do on site

Before you buy, I tell you which equipment will hold up for the way you work. You buy it wherever you like, from the local reseller or online. I give you the specifications that matter and the ones it is pointless paying more for. Once the equipment arrives, I install the computers and the printers, and I set up the network: the router, the wifi, the switch and the cabling when sockets have to be run.

Configuration follows straight away. User accounts, mail, backups, and what I call the security basics: passwords that hold, updates that actually happen, remote access that is not left wide open. Troubleshooting happens in front of the machine, with you or with the person who uses it every day, because a fault makes more sense where it occurs. For small things, remote help is often enough and saves a visit.

What I do not do

I do not promise round-the-clock cover or a guaranteed response time. I work alone, and announcing permanent availability would be untrue. In the same way, I do not take on large fleets of several dozen machines: that calls for a team and management tools that have nothing to do with this service.

I do not resell hardware either. You buy it yourself, from whoever you want, and I have no margin to defend on the machine I recommend. That leaves me free to tell you when a cheaper model will do the job perfectly well.

What moves the quote

The number of machines and users, first. Then the state of what is already there: a network where you can tell which cable goes where is not the same job as premises where everything has run over wifi for ten years. Complexity counts too, between a router and four computers on one side, and a switch, wall sockets and a shared printer on the other.

The time spent on site and the travel go into the figure, which is why the same fault costs less when it is dealt with at the same time as something else. If you want a regular follow-up, its frequency and price are set in the quote, depending on the size of the fleet.

Installation of computers and printers
Network: box, wifi, switch and cabling
User accounts and mailboxes

On-site troubleshooting, in front of the machine
Remote help for small things
A written summary after every visit
Regular follow-up on quote, depending on fleet size

How a visit works

01

First conversation

You describe the need or the fault, by phone or through the form. I tell you whether a visit is worth it and what to expect.

02

Taking stock on site

I look at the machines, the network and what is already there, then I put a figure on the job. Nothing starts before you have the quote.

03

The visit

Installation, configuration or repair, at your premises, with the person who uses the machine every day.

04

Written summary

What was done, what was changed, the access and passwords, and what to keep an eye on. The document stays with you.

Common questions about IT support

No. I advise you on what to buy, and you buy it wherever you like, from a reseller or online. I take no margin on hardware, which lets me point you at the machine that fits rather than the one that pays.

The north-west of Lyon: Dardilly, La Tour-de-Salvagny, Charbonnières-les-Bains, Lentilly, Dommartin, L'Arbresle and Sain-Bel. Outside that area I do not travel. For a small fix, remote help is still possible.

I have no on-call cover and I promise no response time. Write to me and I will tell you when I can come. If it is blocking, we first look remotely at what can be unblocked without a visit.

No. Every job is quoted after a first conversation and billed per intervention, with nothing running on afterwards. If you have several machines and it helps, a regular follow-up can be set up on quote, depending on the size of the fleet.

Both, along with the printers and network equipment that go with them. Windows machines make up most of the work, and a lone Mac in an office causes no particular trouble.
